THE TRUTH BEHIND THE BOSS

Wheeew… what a ride this entrepreneurship thing is!

Going into business for myself is both one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done and the biggest pain in my butt! It’s truly like a relationship, you have the honeymoon stage followed quickly (like, VERY quickly) by the “holy sh**, what have I gotten myself into?” stage; and honestly, the cycle of those two stages really goes on… forever, as far as I can tell!

FREEDOM!

Here's why I’ll never stop. We only get one short life to live. The freedom of working on my terms means that I never have to miss out on the things that are important to me. Being there for my kids, taking trips with my husband, the ability to live and work from anywhere that suits me – have I mentioned how excited I am for my upcoming move to TEXAS?! And endless other time freedoms there isn’t enough room here to list.

Then there’s the freedom of revenue. My income is solely based on how hard I am willing to work. I am not dependent on the salary someone else decided on for me – the sky is the limit! But if I choose to slow down when I’m in a place in life where I value time more than income, I have the autonomy to make that decision as well.

Possibly most importantly, I am able to pursue things that I am passionate about. Not just as a hobby, but as my career. Showing others how they can live their healthiest and most fulfilling lives, providing support to those who are struggling physically and mentally, and helping them get unstuck. It’s the most rewarding feeling in the world and I am still in awe that I am able to make a career out of something that lights my soul on fire!

STRUGGLE!

Sounds great, right!? It is! But hold on… ya’ll know me, I’m also going to be REAL with you. Yes, I love what I do. Yes, there are times when it’s still really freakin’ hard. You frequently see the highlight reel of entrepreneur life, but what you don’t often see is the work behind the scenes. Though all the freedoms sound amazing (and they are) you also have to be willing to work… really. freaking. hard. Self-discipline is a requirement of this position. You’re going to feel like you’re failing – often. You’ve got to grow some thick skin and be willing to push through. And you have to be ready for the highs and lows throughout.

READY. SET. GO!

Are you feeling the pull to become your own boss and live life on YOUR terms? Or maybe you’re already in the thick of it and looking for inspiration to keep going… here are my tips, as a woman entrepreneur, boss and CEO with 27 years’ experience:

Find your “why.” This is a big one, it has to be enough to motivate you to keep going when you want to throw in the towel.

Develop self-discipline.

Set tangible goals and write them down.

Set a consistent schedule.

Develop multiple streams of income – you know the old adage, “don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”

Consider a life or business coach to help you devise a plan of action.

Time Freedom and being able to live a life by your own design

Trying to decide what you’ll do to get started? Ascertain what you’re good at and offer it as a service. Be open to new challenges and experiences. Then, get to work. There’s no time like the present. Start taking action – as big or small as necessary – and start moving forward toward your goals. Need a little help on your journey? Slide into my DMs anytime! I believe in you… You’ve got this!

Go get em' babe!
