New Year Life Update

Happy New Year! I hope 2023 is greeting you with hope, happiness, and a fire in your belly!

I’ve spoken a little bit about the shifts I’ve been making in my life and business, but what better time than a fresh new year to dive a little deeper into that, and also answer a FAQ that I receive about Life Coaching and PR (my newest endeavor – well, kind of… read on for more on that!).

Therapist vs. Life Coach

As a Life Coach, one of the questions I’ve been receiving most frequently is about the difference between a Therapist and a Life Coach. It’s a bit of a loaded question, but here are the basics:

A Therapist is educated with a minimum of a master’s degree in counseling and/or psychology. They have the ability to diagnose and treat mental health issues. They are licensed with the state they offer services in, and are bound to a state and federal governed ethical code of conduct.

A Life Coach isn’t bound by any state or federal governing. However, many, including myself, are professionally trained and possess a certification to conduct coaching in an ethical way. For example, I made the financial and time investment for the training to become a Certified Transformational Nutrition and Life Coach. Along with my professional training, I come to you with a lifetime of experience and wisdom that I have gained through my personal experience with trauma healing, physical health and wellness, as well as business building.

A Therapist will help you work through mental health struggles and work through past trauma, focusing mostly on your past experiences. They provide you with diagnoses and tools for handling past traumas, and moving forward in your life. A Life Coach, on the other hand, focuses mostly on the present and future. A coach will work with you to build a more successful future by spending time getting to know and analyzing current behaviors and habits. Then, a Life Coach will guide you to modify those behaviors and habits in order to see results that you desire—whether your goals are professional, physical, or lifestyle related.

The Shift

In recent years, I have focused mainly on serving women who are feeling stuck in their physical and mental wellness. As a Life Coach in this capacity, I have worked with women to build meal plans, exercise routines, healthier relationships with both themselves and those around them. I emphasize the importance of mindset, self-love, and balance (life is too short to eat nothing but kale). I have helped women work to heal their relationship with food, and guided them through building successful small businesses. These experiences have been the honor of a lifetime. To be a part of the lives of smart, strong, beautiful, AMAZING women.

However. Over the past year I have felt a calling to shift. Though I will still be working in and on my Life Coaching business, Fierce and Beautiful Wellness with Lucie Mitchell, I will be putting much of my energy toward my new venture and what I sincerely feel is my true passion, Lucie Mitchell Co., PR agency. My PR agency, though new, is not a completely out of left field. I will continue to coach female entrepreneurs and CEOs – providing business strategy and guidance. And, as a giant part of that, utilizing my well-established PR connections to assist them in getting the media exposure they need to grow and inspire!

As a serial entrepreneur, I have literally been in business since I was an adolescent with a babysitting business. Health and wellness services, product sales, life coaching, business coaching, you name it, I’ve probably done it. I love taking an idea and making it a reality, and I am addicted to success – for me, and for my clients. Recently, I’ve come to recognize that while not everyone wants to improve their health and nutrition, they sure as hell want to improve their financial situation and success in business!

Why Personal Relations?

In 2015, my husband and I started our company, LifeFlip Media. Our initial goal was to help veterans with small business and no platform, get their name in the media and get the word out and get them the exposure they needed for success. Since then, we have not stopped growing. In the last 8 years, we have made connections with some of the most renowned media companies, and have been able to help hundreds of people build their businesses through media exposure.

In Life Coaching, I have become increasingly aware that there is a dire need for helping women in business get out of their own way, and learning the potential that is truly out there – especially with the right media exposure. I’ve also seen personally the lack of female representation in this PR industry, and I want to be part of breaking this glass wall. The amount of passion I have to see female-built businesses succeed, combined with the knowledge and connections I have gained by working with my husband on LifeFlip Media, has inspired me to begin something I’m honestly surprised I haven’t thought of until now.

My mission is to help women entrepreneurs understand the value of PR and media exposure. Especially those who started with nothing and have built their businesses from the ground up. Their stories need to be told so that they can not only grow their business, but also be an inspiration to other women in business.
